Venture off the beaten path and uncover Venice from a different perspective on a bike tour that explores the nearby island of Lido. Check out the unique sights of this sprawling sandbar as you cruise along the waterfront, soaking up the sights of the Venetian Lagoon along the way.
Meet your guide at the Tronchetto station, get outfitted with your bike, and board the ferry bound for the island of Lido. Gaze out over the tranquil Giudecca Canal and its repurposed salt warehouses while your guide relates interesting tidbits about Venice's prominence in the salt trade over the centuries.
Once in Lido, hop on your bike for a beautiful and leisurely ride along the Venetian Lagoon. Look across to admire the Gothic buildings of the Castello, San Marco, and Giudecca areas from your incredible vantage point, and spot the smaller islands that dot the lagoon.
Along the way, stop to discover the less-traveled landmarks of Lido itself, such as the Jewish cemetery that was granted to Venice's Jewish community in the 14th century. Visit the ancient wells in the old town center of Malamocco, and learn about the lagoon's fortification system as you pedal past the Murazzi, a massive sea wall dating back to the 18th century. At the end of your ride, catch the ferry back to Tronchetto, where you part ways with your guide.
