Upper Mustang Tiji Festival Exploration

The festival 'Tiji' or 'Teechi or Teeji' is celebrated annually in this region for three-days during the days when dry season starts (late spring). Literally ‘Tiji’ means "The chasing of the Demons" and it is centered on the Tiji myth. Tiji is a celebration and reaffirmation of this myth. Thousands of people including children and old aged participate, the festival.

Tiji is the most awaited festival celebrate in Lo-manthang, Upper Mustang. The dates for Tiji Festival 2018 declared and announced. The Tiji festival this year will celebrate on 12th, 13th and 14th May 2018. 

Mustang is a miniature mountain valley engulfed by mountains in the Himalayas of Nepal, with border of Tibet in its north. Mustang's culture has moved down in its pure form from the Red Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Mustang is only the place where one can see the living Tibetan tradition in 21st century.
