The Mekong Delta, also known as the Western Region or the South-western region is the region in southwestern Vietnam where the Mekong River approaches and empties into the sea through a network of distributaries. The Mekong delta region encompasses a large portion of southwestern Vietnam of over 40,500 square kilometres The size of the area covered by water depends on the season.
The Mekong Delta has been dubbed as a "biological treasure trove". Over 1,000 animal species were recorded between 1997 and 2007 and new species of plants, fish, lizards, and mammals have been discovered in previously unexplored areas, including the Laotian rock rat, thought to be extinct.
Departure to My Tho. Upon arrival we will take a boat to enjoy a relaxing walk on the river Tiền on the other side (Ben Tre). Visit a fish farm and the fishing market on the way. A stop at Mr. Ba Chi's farm, to enjoy seasonal fruits and listen to traditional music in the garden. By boat to Tan Thạch and see a coconut candy workshop and how sweets are made. A walk to visit the local market in the village of Thach Tan by horse-drawn carriage. We will continue by boat to Khánh to visit and walk under the shade of the coconut trees and see the daily activities of the local population. We will cross the Mono bridge to get to Vuon DAU and enjoy lunch. After the same we will take the rowboat to sail the streams among young palm trees, and return to the city of My Tho and from there transfer to Saigon. Arrive and transfer to the hotel.
